Not using wireless? Here are some of the applications that are most common:
- Apartment complexes & multi-building sites lacking ethernet infrastructure between buildings,
- Parking areas & perimeters where you can’t/don’t want to trench, and
- any site, even for temporary use, where there is no cable to the desired camera, or other ethernet device such as a gate entry card reader, location.
How much time does it take to configure the wireless radios for a typical point to point application? It should take you longer to install the radios on the pole than to set them up, see the video tuturial above.
Can I power the radios with POE? Yes, either the supplied passive POE unit or from any POE injector or switch.
Do I need line of sight? How Far can I shoot the signal? YES you need line of sight, about the size of a large bus. You have a good chance of getting full bandwidth if you are under 1000’, the radios can go 2 miles or more depending on the exact model, but you will have less throughput the farther you go.
Do I have to pay more money to get extra bandwidth? No, all Comnet radios are fully capable and can deliver the maximum throughput out of the box, no special licensing is required.
