Security cameras are deployed at all types of locations for all types of reasons.

From retail to federal government, video surveillance has a valuable purpose if deployed strategically.

Over the holiday we saw another example of what appears to be a video surveillance system gone wrong.

This situation brings up a few questions. Maybe you'll share your thoughts on this situation or on others you've seen that are similar...

  • Was the camera never connected to the network?
  • Was a second camera supposed to be installed next to this one?
  • Is this a dummy camera or is it just not connected?
  • Is this an analog camera and the replacement IP camera has yet to replace it?
  • When was the last time someone checked to see how the cameras look on the recording device?
  • Is there a false sense of security created for this business' customers?
  • Are the dozens bikes on the sidewalk secured?
  • Is the building owner or business owner responsible for the condition of the camera system?
  • If the camera was there from a prior business, should it have been removed?
