Migration from Analog to IP: Common Infrastructure Considerations

Bruce miller image.pngOur team headed to a federal government facility that has hundreds of buildings with legacy analog video systems currently in place to discuss options for implementing new IP-based solutions.

Like many organizations, businesses, and agencies, this complex is methodically moving toward modern IP-based security solutions.

Comnet's Bruce Miller took a few minutes to discuss a few common solutions that could be implemented at the facility to leverage existing wire infrastructure to reduce labor and material costs.

  • re-using existing copper wire for new IP devices
  • re-using existing fiber optic cabling for new network connections
  • considering wireless connectivity for remote buildings or outposts
