Providing advice about combining disparate products to create a working solution is a role of a trusted security advisor that considers a wide range of security options that fit an organization's strategic security plan. Advice provided could be as simple as a housing/camera/mount solution or as complex as integrating a perimeter intrusion detection system with an IP video surveillance system.

We were asked to test the compatibility of attaching a Bosch NIR-50850-MRP infrared illuminator to a Bosch UHO-POE-10 housing on a Bosch LTC-9215/00 feed-through mount. The request came following the release of the new illuminator series which has a slightly different form factor. The concern was whether or not the configuration used with similar legacy Bosch infrared illuminators would still work together properly with the current UHO housing and mount.

Rick Buehler led the configuration testing and provided the following information. Rick ordered some additional components and was able to successfully create a viable solution with the newest devices.

He found that the following components work together to make this configuration complete:

By using the IIR-MNT-SLB adapter in conjunction with the included IR mount adapter, he was able to attach the devices without comprimising UHO mount tilt or impeding and ingress points to PoE version of the UHO housing.

First, Rick attached the IIR-MNT-SLB adapter to the bottom of the PoE UHO housing:

Once attached, he then connected the NIR-50850-MRP illuminator with the included mount adapter to the IIR-MNT-SLB:

Next, he tested the tilt of the housing with common down tilt with the illuminator at the same angle:

He tested the tilt of the housing straight down with the illuminator at the same angle:

He tested the tilt of the illuminator down with the UHO housing level:

When using the PoE Infrared Illuminator, the provded cable wiill not feed through the mount due to connector size. Modification to the cable or external attachment to the mount will be required:

If using the non-PoE version of the IR Illuminator with an external power supply, such as the Bosch UPA-2450, the power wire will not have a connector and will feed through the wall mount. NOTE: this scenario was not tested.

If the non-PoE UHO housing is used, there is a slight overlap of an ingress point on the UHO housing. The mount adapter could be modified by the installer to provide proper clearance if required:
