Camera installations in the field are rarely one-size-fits-all. A design may look simple on paper, but once the system reaches a pole, exterior wall, parking area, campus roadway, or perimeter location, the real installation details begin to matter.

  • How will the camera receive power?

  • How will fiber be converted to copper?

  • How will the camera be protected from surge events?

  • Where will all of that hardware be mounted so the finished installation is clean, serviceable, and professional?

Those were the kinds of real-world questions behind a recent discussion between Steve Pennington and Dave Sinise from AMG Systems. The conversation focused on a customer application that required PoE delivery to a camera inside an IQSIGHT/ Bosch universal power supply box, while also supporting AMG fiber media conversion and, in some cases, surge protection.

The solution is the AMGMNT-KF IQSIGHT / Bosch Mounting Bracket from AMG Systems.

This bracket may look like a small mechanical accessory, but for integrators and system designers, it solves a very practical field problem: how to properly mount AMG communications and protection devices inside compatible IQSIGHT / Bosch camera surveillance cabinets.

Why This Bracket Matters

In many outdoor camera applications, the enclosure or power box becomes more than just a housing. It becomes a small field equipment location.

For example, a camera mounted on a pole may need fiber coming into the box, copper and PoE going up to the camera, and protection against surge events induced on the short copper run between the box and the camera.

Without a purpose-built mounting solution, integrators may be left trying to place devices inside the enclosure in a way that is not ideal for cable management, service access, or long-term reliability.

The AMGMNT-KF bracket gives those devices a proper home.

The AMGMNT-KF is a two-part bracket designed for mounting several AMG products within compatible IQSIGHT / Bosch camera enclosures. It is designed to provide a professional solution with adequate cable management area and clearly labeled mounting holes for easier field installation.

The Two-Part Bracket Design

Steve described the bracket as a two-part assembly. The first part is the mounting piece that attaches inside the power supply box. The second part is a plate that mounts on top of that base and includes multiple mounting holes for different AMG devices.

That matters because the bracket is not designed around only one fixed configuration. It is intended to support different AMG products and mounting orientations based on the project need.

The bracket supports single or dual AMG units, with orientations that help provide the required cable management. This is especially useful when the enclosure needs to support both media conversion and surge protection.

Application 1: 48V Input, Fiber Conversion, and PoE to the Camera

One application discussed in the video uses an AMG media converter that accepts 48 volts into the box and provides PoE out to the camera.

In this configuration, fiber comes into the power supply box. The AMG media converter converts the fiber connection to copper and provides PoE to the camera. Dave noted that these devices can support 30, 60, or 90 watts of PoE, depending on the model and application.

This is useful for installations where the designer wants to run fiber to the camera location but still power the camera with PoE from inside the enclosure.

This approach can also support remote reset functionality, giving the system owner or integrator an additional way to manage the connected camera without immediately rolling a truck.

For many exterior or pole-mounted camera applications, that combination is valuable:

  • Fiber for distance and reliability.

  • PoE for simplified camera power.

  • Remote reset for service flexibility.

  • A clean enclosure layout for long-term maintainability.

Application 2: Adding Surge Protection for Outdoor Camera Runs

The second application discussed in the conversation involved surge protection.

Dave explained that lightning and surge protection are always concerns when equipment is installed outside, especially when cameras are mounted on poles. Even if the copper cable run is relatively short, it can still pick up induced surge energy between the power supply box and the camera.

That run may only be 5, 10, or 15 feet, but it can still matter.

In this configuration, AMG’s AMG110 surge protection device can be mounted in the enclosure along with the media converter. This helps protect the copper connection between the power supply box and the camera.

This is a practical design consideration for exterior video surveillance systems. The fiber path may help isolate part of the network, but the copper cable from the enclosure to the camera still needs to be considered. By placing surge protection inside the enclosure, the installation can better protect the camera and supporting electronics.

Application 3: Mains Power with PoE Using the AMG265M

The conversation also covered another customer requirement: mains power.

In that application, the customer wanted to bring AC power into the box and still provide PoE to the camera. Dave explained that the AMG265M can accept AC power and provide PoE to the camera, with support for up to 90 watts depending on the model.

He also noted that the device includes a terminal block option, so the installer does not necessarily have to use a power cord.

Because the AC-powered media converter is larger, Steve pointed out that there is not room in that same configuration for a separate surge suppressor. However, Dave explained that the AC device has surge protection built into the unit.

This gives integrators another clean option when the site has mains power available at the camera enclosure.

Compatible IQSIGHT / Bosch Camera Cabinets

The AMGMNT-KF bracket is designed for compatible IQSIGHT / Bosch camera surveillance cabinets, including the VG4-A-P, NDA-U-P, and NBA-7070-PA series.

Compatibility is possible with several specific cabinet and power supply models, including surveillance cabinets, direct-mount surveillance cabinets, AUTODOME pendant arm power boxes, and power supply units for AUTODOME, MIC7000, and NDA-7100PEN/PENF applications.

115VAC and 230VAC models are supported, but the mains transformer must be removed to install the bracket.

Compatible AMG Devices

The AMGMNT-KF bracket supports several AMG product families, including:

  • AMG260M Series industrial mini DC-powered media converters with optional PoE.

  • AMG265M Series industrial mini AC-powered media converters with optional PoE.

  • AMG110M-1X-SP industrial mini PoE surge protectors.

This allows the bracket to support multiple field design approaches, including DC-powered media conversion, AC-powered media conversion, PoE delivery, and surge protection.

Built for Field Conditions

The device has an operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, which is important for outdoor and infrastructure applications where equipment may be exposed to harsh seasonal conditions inside the enclosure.

The bracket itself is anodized aluminum and is designed for installation inside compatible IQSIGHT / Bosch camera surveillance cabinets. The IP rating is determined by the enclosure, not the bracket.

The AMGMNT-KF is also NDAA / TAA compliant on the datasheet, which is important for many government, transportation, campus, and critical infrastructure projects.

A Customer-Driven Solution

One of the strongest points in the conversation was not just the product itself. It was how the product came about.

Steve and Dave emphasized that this solution was driven by customer applications. A customer had a specific challenge, AMG worked through the engineering requirements, and the result was a bracket kit that helps solve that problem in a repeatable way.

That is important for integrators and consultants because many security projects require more than catalog selection. They require application support.

When a camera location needs fiber, PoE, surge protection, AC power, or a combination of those elements, the question is not just whether the electronics exist. The question is whether they can be mounted cleanly, serviced easily, and installed in a way that supports the finished system design.

The AMGMNT-KF bracket helps answer that question.

The AMG Systems AMGMNT-KF bracket is a practical accessory for integrators working with compatible IQSIGHT / Bosch camera enclosures. It supports cleaner installation of AMG media converters and surge protection devices while helping solve common field challenges involving fiber, PoE, outdoor camera power, and serviceability.

For exterior cameras, pole-mounted applications, perimeter systems, campus environments, transportation sites, and other demanding security installations, small infrastructure details can make a big difference.

The AMGMNT-KF bracket is one of those details.

It gives the installer a cleaner way to mount the right AMG device inside the enclosure, gives the designer more flexibility, and gives the end user a more professional, maintainable solution.
