Bosch unveiled its latest version of the Bosch Video Management System—BVMS 12.3—highlighting a significant leap forward in situational awareness, forensic search, and advanced intelligent video analytics (IVA Pro) integration. Brad Castillo of Chesapeake and Midlantic Marketing spoke with Maciej Wróbel from Bosch about the platform’s enhanced capabilities and how operators can now achieve more with less effort.

Situational Awareness at a Glance

Introducing Bosch BVMS 12.3 - Enhanced Situational Awareness, Smarter Search, and Powerful Analytics BANNER IMAGE 3A major highlight of BVMS 12.3 is its dynamic map-based interface that visually tracks real-time object detection across facilities.

“Just looking at a map, you can have a very, very good overview of what is going on,” said Wróbel. “If there is any suspicious movement, if everything is right—that’s the intention of this feature.”

Each dot on the map represents a person or vehicle detected by Bosch cameras, empowering operators with real-time visibility. This feature relies on metadata already available from many Bosch IVA-capable cameras, meaning that even existing hardware can be used—no major upgrades necessary.

“There’s a pretty high chance that even if you’ve got some older [camera] models, with proper IVA calibration and 3D tracking mode enabled, you should be able to make it work like that,” added Wróbel.

License Plate and Vehicle Recognition – Now Smarter

BVMS 12.3 also brings deeper integration with IVA Pro LPR + Vehicle Make Model. With this, operators can search for vehicles using full or partial plate numbers—or even by make and model.

“Let’s imagine we don’t know the whole plate number, we only know it ends with 50. We can search just using that,” demonstrated Wróbel. “And you’ll get instant results.”

This forensic search capability supports investigations even when details are vague, and no additional BVMS license is needed—just the proper camera license for LPR functionality.

Intelligent Appearance-Based Search

Bosch has also integrated IVA Pro Appearance into BVMS 12.3, allowing for highly granular search criteria when reviewing incidents.

“If you know some specific information about the person of interest—like what color top they wore, whether they had a backpack—you can do that in just a couple of seconds,” said Wróbel.

Search filters include clothing color and length, gender, hair characteristics, accessories, and more—dramatically reducing the time it takes to locate footage of a subject.

PPE Detection and Compliance Monitoring

2025-04-11_17-10-31In safety-conscious environments like construction zones or industrial facilities, IVA Pro PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) analytics can now trigger alerts or support investigations.

“Whenever a person without a hard hat or safety vest is detected, it can generate an alarm,” Wróbel explained. “Or you can look back in time and verify whether PPE compliance was upheld.”

This tool adds another layer of operational oversight, especially useful for incident response and regulatory compliance.

Seamless Experience Without Added Licensing Complexity

Despite these robust new features, Bosch has been careful not to overburden customers with software complexity.

“We need the capable camera and the appropriate license… but on the BVMS side—no additional license is required,” Wróbel emphasized.

This makes the platform more accessible for both new deployments and existing installations—ensuring customers can leverage the value of BVMS 12.3 without starting from scratch.

BVMS 12.3, whether server-based or running on an all-in-one appliance, marks a new era in video management for Bosch users—bringing more power, precision, and efficiency to operators on the front lines of security. Whether it's enhancing real-time awareness, streamlining investigations with LPR and appearance search, or ensuring safety compliance through PPE detection, this latest release delivers advanced functionality without complicating the user experience.

For organizations looking to get more from their existing Bosch infrastructure—or those planning a new deployment—BVMS 12.3 is a future-ready investment in smarter, faster, and more informed security operations.
