Integration of security systems requires partnership.

It's no secret that manufacturers of security cameras and video management software have been working together to develop integration beyond ONVIF (see ONVIF article here). ONVIF brings a common platform from which to develop basic integrations. There are even ONVIF integrations with stand-alone display monitors to provide single displays for uses such as retail, malls, lobbies, reception desks, etc. Click here for ONVIF monitor article.

But, you really benefit from direct integration, also known as API or SDK level integration. This level of integration goes beyond the camera and the VMS. Now, integration is being developed between fire, intrusion detection, perimeter detection, access control, and more.

Bosch manages these manufacturer relationships with a program called the Integration Partner Program. This is a global partnership program created to develop and manage integrations with all types of systems from various manufacturers. In the United States, this is managed in Lancaster, PA by a team of engineers.

The Bosch IPP website provides two primary resources. First, the ability for a manufacturer to connect with the IPP team to open engagement and work on integrations. Second, the ability for end users and security dealers to research cross compatibility.

Cross compatibility started with the VMS and camera as the focus. Now the IPP team is working to integrate alarm panel security systems into 3rd party systems such as access control.

Here is an intro to Bosch's IPP:

Here's how Bosch IPP and Bosch VMS combined results in 3rd party integration for a complete security solution:
