At ISC West 2025, Commend—a global leader in high-performance voice intercom systems—shared an exciting update on their evolving mission and technology roadmap. Known for their robust enterprise-grade audio solutions, Commend is now focusing on expanding accessibility, streamlining deployment, and empowering channel partners through an initiative called Commend Made Easy. Tom Reilly of Commend talked to Brad Castillo to explain what this shift means for the intercom market.

From Complexity to Accessibility

“Commend has always been associated with a top-tier product platform,” said Castillo, noting the system’s rich feature set often comes with a steep learning curve. Reilly agreed, acknowledging that Commend’s long-standing reputation has been rooted in “that complex enterprise opportunity,” built around “high quality, heavily integrated, cybersecurity audio.”

But that’s changing.

“What we’ve been working on over the last year is something I call the evolution of our Symphony platform,” Reilly explained. “No longer is Commend focused solely on the enterprise. We can now be looked at as a day-to-day audio partner for small, medium, and large-scale applications.”

Whether it's a simple peer-to-peer system or a deeply integrated enterprise-grade solution, Symphony now scales across a broad spectrum of deployments. “It’s really been a very progressive, ongoing journey under the banner of our Symphony transformation,” Reilly added.

Commend Made Easy

One of the most exciting announcements was the introduction of Commend Made Easy, a new initiative aimed at simplifying system configuration and maintenance.

“We’re making a lot of noise in the market about Commend Made Easy,” Reilly said. “Historically, Commend has been complex to configure and manage. We’ve supported that with training, professional services, and sales engineering collaboration.”

But now, after three years of development, Commend is preparing to roll out a brand-new configuration platform rebuilt from the ground up. “It’s still the same capability, still the same broad feature set,” Reilly explained, “but no longer requiring a PhD to use the Commend system.” This usability-focused redesign will be released in phases over the next two years, giving dealers and customers the same power with far less complexity.

Supporting the Process from Design to Installation

Commend’s transformation is not only technical—it’s cultural and collaborative. Their new strategy is designed to support every stakeholder involved in the specification, installation, and use of their systems.

“We want to be the audio partner,” Reilly emphasized. “We want to be looked at as the audio experts in every channel—from dealers and specifiers to end users and technology partners.”

Commend is also investing heavily in strategic integrations, taking a proactive approach to aligning R&D roadmaps with complementary technology providers. “Integration conversations need to start a lot earlier,” Reilly said, “and in the vein of strategic alliances—technology provider to technology provider—studying and sharing their R&D roadmap.”

This deeper collaboration isn’t just about features. It’s about solving specific problems across verticals and creating unified, purpose-built solutions. “Our belief is that the technologies have become so complex and so capable that integration needs to be strategic—not just functional,” Reilly said.

Looking Ahead

With the launch of Commend Made Easy and the evolution of the Symphony platform, Commend is not just simplifying its systems—they’re redefining what it means to be a modern intercom provider.

Their message at ISC West was clear: whether you're protecting a single site or building a global enterprise communications network, Commend wants to be your go-to audio partner—no PhD required.

As Reilly put it, “We’re excited to make it simple. We want to design the right solution and be the trusted name for secure, integrated audio across every market.”
