At ISC West 2025, Bosch gave attendees an inside look at the latest advancements in their IVA Pro Suite—a set of intelligent video analytics tools designed to bring smarter, more efficient security and safety solutions to a wide variety of environments. Don Maxey, Application Design Specialist at Bosch, joined Brad Castillo to walk through a dynamic, scaled-down demonstration model showing real-world use cases across perimeter, workplace, and interior security scenarios.
A Layered Approach to Perimeter Protection
Bosch’s IVA Pro Perimeter takes a hybrid approach by combining traditional AI-based object detection with background subtraction. This means smarter detection—especially in cases where a person may be partially hidden. Traditional analytics might miss these subtle intrusions, but IVA Pro Perimeter doesn’t.
Don demonstrated how the system can reliably detect a person passing through a fence line—even if they’re partially concealed:
“An obfuscated person is not a person to traditional 2D detectors. But with our layered approach in IVA Pro Perimeter, we’re able to detect them anyway—and filter out nuisance alerts like wildlife at the same time.”
In a dramatic side-by-side demo, a covered person slipped through the fence unseen by traditional analytics but was immediately detected when IVA Pro Perimeter was enabled. A deer, however, was ignored, showcasing Bosch’s ability to reduce false positives—an essential feature for security teams looking to avoid alarm fatigue.
Smarter, Simpler Calibration
Another standout improvement? Streamlined setup.
“IVA Pro Perimeter calibration is maybe a 30-second procedure per camera,” Don explained. “That really is a differentiator.”
Using built-in MEMS sensors, auto-varifocal lenses, and intuitive wizard-based calibration in Bosch Configuration Manager, users no longer need to spend hours calculating angles or manually entering data. Just provide camera height and a couple of reference heights—and you're ready to go.
Brad noted that this simplification addresses a common customer concern:
“What was maybe preventing people from using it often was the amount of time going into commissioning systems. We really streamlined that process with IVA Pro Perimeter.”
PPE Detection & Workplace Safety
Bosch also showcased IVA Pro PPE, a powerful workplace safety tool that monitors personal protective equipment compliance.
Using AI classification, the system automatically determines whether individuals are wearing the correct gear—hard hat, safety vest, or both—and either grants access or triggers alerts when someone is non-compliant. This helps reduce liability and improve operational safety without relying solely on human supervision.
Another safety feature detects workers entering hazardous zones—such as beneath a lift—and can automatically play an audio warning with an integrated Bosch IP speaker to improve situational awareness.
IVA Pro Appearance and Traffic
In more traditional indoor settings, Bosch's IVA Pro Appearance and IVA Pro Traffic modules shine.
IVA Pro Appearance extracts metadata about people—such as clothing color, accessories, or bags—enabling advanced forensic searches. If someone is seen outside in the parking lot and later inside the building, they can be tracked and located using simple metadata queries in BVMS or partner VMS systems.
IVA Pro Traffic, on the other hand, isn’t just for highways. Don emphasized its role in commercial security applications, helping sites understand vehicle movements and behaviors in a non-ITS context.
Gun Detection: Interior Threat Awareness
In the office section of the table demonstration, Bosch also displayed its IVA Gun Detection capability. As a figure entered the building with a visible weapon, the system instantly recognized the threat and triggered an alert alongside an automated audio warning.
This feature addresses an increasingly urgent need for active threat awareness, especially in public-facing environments where seconds matter.

From the Fence to the Forensic Search
What Bosch has built with the IVA Pro Suite is a full-spectrum analytics platform that goes from the perimeter to the interior, covering everything from intrusion detection and safety compliance to situational awareness and forensic search.
“You guys have really secured, from an analytic perspective, from perimeter to the interior of the building,” Brad observed. “And all the way through with forensic, searchable, usable data that users can quickly access.”
