At this year’s ISC West conference, Bosch took cloud-based video surveillance to a new level with a major update to its VideoView+ cloud service. In a discussion between Brad Castillo and Mike Brewer, the two highlighted the evolution of Bosch's cloud platform and introduced new capabilities that enhance flexibility, simplify configuration, and expand access to stored video — even across continents.
From Camera-Only to Complete System Access
“Traditionally, we’ve seen cloud services used to enroll cameras directly to Remote Portal,” said Brad Castillo. “Customers are gravitating toward this because they can check the status of their devices remotely. Integrators can determine if cameras are offline or need a firmware update without rolling a truck.”
But according to Mike Brewer, the Bosch team has taken it much further: “We've added to VideoView+. It kind of has two different flavors now. There's direct-to-camera, which you're used to, and now there's VideoView+ for DVAR IP — letting you access stored video remotely through the cloud.”
This new capability enables VideoView+ to work seamlessly with Bosch’s DVAR IP units. By connecting the DVAR IP to Remote Portal, users can access and replay recorded video without uploading it to the cloud — all in real time and without local access.
Remote, Real-Time, and Ready for Anything
In a live demonstration, Brewer showcased video from a DVAR IP system located in Munich, accessed in real-time at ISC West in Las Vegas. “This Divar IP (DIP) isn’t here at the show with us,” Brewer noted. “It’s over in Munich… and we’re viewing it directly through the cloud.”
The update isn’t just about remote access — it’s about intelligent notification. Brewer highlighted how the new system supports push notifications triggered from Bosch Video Management System (BVMS) alarms, offering deep integration options.
“With BVMS having the REST API and all that integration,” Castillo noted, “if you can trigger a virtual input, anything can really generate an alarm and push a notification to a remote device. That’s gold.”
Designed for Mobile Operators
The updated VideoView+ service is compatible with Windows, iOS, and Android. While the Windows-based BVMS is ideal for full-time operators, mobile users benefit from push notifications on smartphones and tablets — making it a perfect solution for roaming security personnel.
Brewer emphasized ease of use: “With this system, we’re able to push alarms to the cloud with just a Remote Portal connection. One-stop shop for your configuration.”
More Flexibility, Less Complexity
This streamlined approach enables mobile operators and integrators to respond to security events without being tethered to a desktop. “It makes it a lot easier to manage,” said Castillo, “and gives those users who are more mobile — not sitting in front of an operator client all the time — the ability to respond to an event however they choose.”
As Bosch continues to evolve its cloud services, this update to VideoView+ is a major step forward for integrators, operators, and end users alike.
