At this year’s ISC West 2025 conference, Bosch Security Systems showcased a dynamic expansion of their camera portfolio, unveiling three major product updates aimed at meeting the evolving needs of perimeter protection, intelligent video analytics, and precision camera control. Brad Castillo from Chesapeake and Midlantic Marketing spoke with Gijs van den Borne, Global Product Portfolio Manager for Intelligent Fixed Dome Cameras at Bosch, about these important releases.

New DINION Thermal Bullet Camera – Enhanced Form and Function

Bosch DINION ThermalOne of the most exciting reveals is Bosch’s newly redesigned thermal camera, replacing the older box-style outdoor housing with a sleek and modern bullet-style form factor. According to Gijs, this new design not only improves aesthetics but also streamlines installation:

“We changed from this old school outdoor housing box camera type design to the bullet camera form factor, which makes it way easier and faster to install.”

Beyond the physical redesign, this model integrates significant functionality improvements such as PoE (Power over Ethernet) support—something previously missing—and Bosch’s powerful IVA Pro Perimeter analytics. These enhancements position the thermal camera as a strong performer for long-range intrusion detection, especially in environments with low visibility or challenging lighting.

“It’s a big improvement on the installability and functionality while maintaining industry-leading long-range video analytics,” Gijs added. “Expect great things of that.”

Brad echoed the importance of this launch, especially for perimeter protection, “That new form factor, those new analytics—that’s gonna be pretty powerful.”

2025-04-11_08-50-30FLEXIDOME 8100i PTRZ – Taking Intelligence to the Next Level

Building on the success of the FLEXIDOME 8000i series, Bosch is now introducing the FLEXIDOME 8100i PTRZ, a next-generation fixed dome that packs advanced analytics and even more flexibility. The 8100i series runs on the CPP14 platform, enabling it to process AI-based IVA Pro features such as visual gun detection, license plate recognition, and advanced perimeter detection.

A standout improvement is the integration of IR models, a highly requested upgrade by customers who previously had to rely on external lighting in low-light scenarios.

“We had the Starlight and HDRX technology, but now having also an integrated IR option is a great addition to that lineup,” said Gijs.

What’s more, the 8100i retains the motorized PTRZ (Pan-Tilt-Rotate-Zoom) feature for remote setup and adjustments. Brad commented on how user-friendly the previous generation already was, “Customers love the 8000i... being able to position it wherever they need to. Now, we’re feature-packed.”

Even the IR lighting on this model is programmable and can be optimized for the installation environment, reducing glare and unnecessary reflection from nearby walls or surfaces.

“All the great stuff from the FLEXIDOME 8000i is maintained, but these new additions, in my opinion, make this the best camera,” Gijs concluded.

Bosch also addressed a long-standing gap in their camera lineup: a powerful yet affordable PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) camera for mid-tier applications. The new AUTODOME 5000i PTZ fills that role with a variety of models tailored to different needs.

From standard pendant and ceiling mounts to advanced versions with integrated IR, white light LEDs, flat viewing windows, wipers, and rain sensors, the 5100i series provides robust functionality without the premium price tag of the 7100i or MIC high-end PTZs. “This is a great addition in our moving camera portfolio... a really nice balance between performance, features, and cost,” said Gijs.

Brad summed it up well, “Meeting customers’ requirements and application needs—that’s exactly what this mid-range PTZ is going to do.”

A Unified Vision for Smart Surveillance

Together, these three product announcements underscore Bosch’s commitment to smart, scalable surveillance solutions. Whether securing remote perimeters, managing indoor environments with variable lighting, or covering large areas with versatile PTZ control, Bosch is delivering thoughtful, analytics-driven technology that meets real-world needs.

With thermal detection reimagined, the FLEXIDOME series elevated, and a balanced new PTZ offering, ISC West 2025 attendees saw firsthand that Bosch isn’t just keeping up—they’re leading the next wave of intelligent surveillance.
