Here's what people had to say about panoramic camera imaging technology for their security projects:
- Panoramic imaging is a natural progression to surveillance. Remove blind spots and see more - for greater security. The more you can see, the more secure you are!
- Panoramic imaging is great for covering open rooms with a single camera. Where you would once need 4 cameras to completely cover a room you now can use one. Panaramic imaging is also good for hallways and covering the exterior of a building. Because these cameras offer 180 and 360 degree protection you can view the entire hallway, down the side/bothways of a building or if you corner mount it pointing down on a building you can cover 2 perpendicular sides of the building all while using only one camera.
- Ability to track activity over a large area with a single camera.
- Panoramic imaging is great when multiple cameras would be needed to cover the same area. The feed can be multiple images or a 360° view. Elevators, strategically placed between landings in stairwells is some times better then fixed cameras, used is tight areas where even a wide angle lens is too close. The more familiar I become with 360° cameras the more uses are uncovered.
- I would use the panoramic camera in our reception area so that you can view the entire room in one screenshot.
- There is no better way to get the full picture of what is going on.
- Especially in my environment, it could reduce the number of cameras needed. If you consider the cameras on our structures, they currently only face in one direction. This requires more cameras. The ability to see 360 degrees would allow for fewer cameras. Many times, we have ptz cameras on a tour to capture a wide area. This leaves gaps in coverage. Our environment is perfect for this application.
- It makes sense on using a panoramic camera imaging in a museum setting or historic facilities because it minimizes the effect on the historic fabric. In many cases historic cultural properties have limitations due to the visitor experience on the historic scene. Having dozens of cameras has an negative effect on that scene. Utilizing panoramic cameras cuts down on the amount of camera that you would have to use in these situations. So not only do you have the benefit of minimizing the historic nature of the facility you will save on cost as well.
- The ease of multiple cameo images during live and playback.
- Lower cost and easier installation as one camera can cover an entire area.
- To be able to see all angles of the building, making it more secure.
- One panoramic camera can provide the "always in view" advantage of several fixed lens cameras with after-the-fact PTZ ability.
- In the security camera world, more view is typically always better. It seems the panoramic technology also allows for seamless imaging of a larger area.
- We have two mechanical PTZ cameras viewing money counting on large tables. There are times when recorded video from these cameras need to be viewed while camera operators are manually panning the area for activity. It is not unusual for someone reviewing recorded or even live video to suddenly have their view taken away by a moving PTZ. Panoramic imaging solves this problem by capturing the entire scene and so multiple views can be handled live or in playback.
- With a single IP address and 1 PoE port on a network switch, which may have limited available ports, a common area can be viewed in multiple directions. Areas such as lobbies and hallway intersections can be viewed through a single transmission point. The network hardware economy is a selling point.
