Bosch offers two options when it comes to access control system protocols for readers and credentials within the Access Management System (AMS) ecosystem: OSDP and Wiegand. Below, Ari Erenthal and Rick Bennett explain the Wiegand and OSDP reader options for Bosch AMS >>
STiD Readers
STiD readers have three different form factors. They are pre-configured and programmed, ready to use and available in black color. It can be surface-mounted and an optional mounting box can be used.
This reader is fits the standard US Gang Box. To provide a wide range of solutions with virtually every access control system on the market, the reader is fully compatible with the entire MIFARE credential portfolio.
A STiD reader is very simple to use and provides clear feedback to the user during operation, due to
the LED and beeper. Because the reader is IP65 and IK08 rated, it is optimally suited for outdoor environments, and provides a high level of resistance against vandalism.
In this explainer video, Ari and Alex discuss the STiD portfolio of credential readers. Watch below >>
OSDP
A mullion is the dividing bar on a glass door. Applications with lots of glass offer few good places to mount a card reader, so the best solution is often to fish a wire down the frame itself and mount a thin, narrow reader right to the frame itself.
All Bosch credential readers are designed for indoor applications, but can be used outdoors with an optional gasket which is sold separately.
Bosch's LECTUS series are compatible with AMS, the enterprise-class access control solution from Bosch. For secure applications, LECTUS readers can support encryption between card and reader by using Bosch coded DESFire EV1 credentials, and encryption between reader and controller using the OSDP v2 Secure Channel Protocol. The reader also supports standard iCLASS, MIFARE, and MIFARE DESFire EV1.
Wiegand
A mullion is the dividing bar on a glass door. Applications with lots of glass offer few good places to mount a card reader, so the best solution is often to fish a wire down the frame itself and mount a thin, narrow reader right to the frame itself.
All Bosch credential readers are designed for indoor applications, but can be used outdoors with an optional gasket, sold separately.
Bosch's LECTUS series are compatible with Bosch access control solutions including AMS and Bosch intrusion panels with access control interfaces. LECTUS series readers are compatible with multiple credential formats, including iCLASS and MIFARE.
