For security professionals using IQSIGHT (formerly Bosch) cameras with Milestone XProtect®, the connection between camera intelligence and the video management system just became significantly tighter.
IQSIGHT SmartSuite for Milestone XProtect 2.0 builds on the SmartSuite integration introduced earlier this year, bringing camera configuration, analytics, forensic search, device control, and several new capabilities together within the familiar XProtect environment.
The goal is straightforward: give system integrators an easier way to deploy and configure IQSIGHT cameras, while giving security operators better access to the intelligence those cameras are generating.
Milestone and IQSIGHT, formerly Bosch Video Systems, originally introduced SmartSuite as a consolidated plug-in package that embeds IQSIGHT Intelligent Video Analytics directly into XProtect. According to the companies, SmartSuite can reduce installation time by up to 70 percent by consolidating previously separate tools and allowing more configuration work to take place directly within XProtect.
For integrators and system administrators, one of SmartSuite's biggest advantages is reducing the need to move back and forth between XProtect and individual camera interfaces.
Camera configuration can be performed directly through the XProtect Management Client, including access to more than 100 camera parameters. XProtect handles camera authorization, and many configuration changes can be made without requiring an additional hardware update within the VMS.
SmartSuite also provides rapid subscription to IQSIGHT Intelligent Video Analytics events and integration with Project Assistant. Existing Project Assistant projects can be brought into XProtect with settings such as network configuration, date and time, camera names and groups, image parameters, alignment, and focus automatically applied.
For integrators deploying dozens or hundreds of cameras, those seemingly small efficiencies can translate into meaningful reductions in commissioning time.
One of the most significant additions in SmartSuite 2.0 is support for IQSIGHT IVA Pro License Plate Recognition directly within XProtect.
Supported IQSIGHT cameras equipped with an IVA Pro LPR license can detect and recognize license plates at the camera, rather than relying on a separate analytics server. Configuration is handled through the XProtect Management Client, and detected plates can generate dynamic XProtect events for rules, alarms, and automation.
That opens the door to applications such as vehicle access control, employee or visitor identification, unauthorized vehicle alerts, and automated gate or barrier operation.
IQSIGHT's implementation can maintain up to 16 license plate lists and 5,000 entries per camera, including allow lists, deny lists, employee vehicles, VIP vehicles, delivery vehicles, and other application-specific lists. No central LPR database is required.
For larger systems, edge-based processing can also help distribute the analytics workload rather than concentrating it on a central server.
SmartSuite is not only about installation and configuration. It also brings IQSIGHT intelligence into the XProtect Smart Client, where operators work every day.
Operators can use a dedicated IQSIGHT Forensic Search interface to investigate recorded video based on analytics metadata. SmartSuite can visualize detected objects using bounding boxes, trajectories, object classifications, and counters, while supported PTZ cameras can use analytics-assisted or mouse-selected automatic tracking.
The integration also provides panoramic de-warping and direct control of supported camera hardware features, including wipers, white light, and infrared illumination, without requiring the operator to leave XProtect.
SmartSuite 2.0 adds another useful capability for operators and system managers: Camera Health overlays.
Real-time information can now be displayed within XProtect showing camera CPU utilization, IVA processing utilization, overall camera workload, and SD card health and status.
Instead of waiting for a device problem to become obvious through lost video or degraded performance, administrators have additional information available to help identify potential camera or storage issues.
Another SmartSuite 2.0 addition is direct control of IQSIGHT autofocus capabilities from the XProtect Smart Client.
Autofocus is supported for both fixed and moving cameras, giving operators and technicians a simpler method of correcting focus without opening a separate camera interface.
It is a relatively simple feature, but one that can make a meaningful operational difference when managing cameras across a large system.
SmartSuite 2.0 also introduced preview support for configuring IVA Pro Context Cloud, IQSIGHT's contextual AI capability.
IVA Pro Context is designed to recognize user-defined behaviors, situations, and operational conditions that go beyond conventional analytics such as basic line crossing or object detection. In version 2.0, this functionality was available under a feature flag. IQSIGHT's current documentation identifies full IVA Pro Context Configuration as a SmartSuite 2.1 capability.
This is an important area to watch as IQSIGHT continues bringing more advanced camera and cloud intelligence into the Milestone workflow.
IQSIGHT has also announced that its current camera portfolio is supported by Milestone XProtect, further strengthening the relationship between the two platforms. Milestone's current Supported Device List identifies IQSIGHT, formerly Bosch Video Systems, as a supported manufacturer.
