Interlogix to Bosch Contact Closure Crossover

Many in the security industry were taken by surprise when Interlogix announced that they were exiting the industry. System designers and project managers often try to standardize on specific manufacturers wherever possible. Keeping the number of SKUs to a minimum makes planning and inventory control a lot easier. Likewise, technician installation time is reduced when there is a focus on select solutions. So, when Interlogix stopped producing intrusion detection contact closure sensors, this made installation and service a little trickier for those who were focused on Interlogix device solutions.

Fortunately, Bosch has a full line of intrusion detection sensors, including magnetic contacts. Ari and Katie met to talk about Bosch contacts and how you can use them to replace commonly used Interlogix contacts.

The Bosch ISN-CSM35-W is a surface mount contact with screw terminals, the most common style of contact. This is a good alternative to the Interlogix 1085T-N.

Bosch also manufactures a wide gap version, the Bosch ISN-CSM35-WGW. This is a good replacement for the 1084TW-N.

The ISN-CSM35-W has a 1” gap, while the ISN-CSM35-WGW has a 1.75” gap. 

The standard contact is good for most doors and windows, but sometimes you’ll have a door that doesn’t close quite right. It might sway slightly in the wind, or it might just have enough jiggle to move slightly by itself. When this happens, you’ll get false alarms, and these false alarms are going to be very hard to diagnose and repair. This is going to aggravate the end user and potentially cause unnecessary law enforcement responses. What you want to do is use a wide gap contact. This way a door with a little bit of play can move without faulting the point, while still causing an alert if the door should open.

For steel doors, Bosch offers a commercial contact. The Bosch ISN-CSM20-WG has a 2.5” gap and an 18” whip. It’s a good alternative to the Interlogix 1045W-N.

For high threat applications, Bosch offers the ISN-CMET-200AR. It is a metal contact with a 1.25” gap and an 18” armored whip. It is a good alternative to the Interlogix 2505A-L.

If aesthetics are a consideration, Bosch also has a low profile surface mount contact. The Bosch ISN-C60W is a slimline contact with terminal connections and gap of ¾”. This is a good alternative to the Interlogix 1038T-N.

Bosch's ISN-CMET4418 is a floor mount overhead door contact. It has a 2” gap and an 18” armored whip. It is a good alternative to the Interlogix 2202AU-L.

The Bosch ISN-C66 is a track mount overhead contact. It has a 2.5” gap and an 18” armored whip. It is a good alternative to the Interlogix 2315A-L.

Bosch only offers overhead door contacts with wide gaps since overhead doors are very common sources of false alarms. Not only do they tend to move in the wind, accidents with forklifts and trucks are common, so a tightly fitted contact could suddenly be gapped. 

Finally, Bosch has pressfits. The Bosch ISN-CSD70-W is a ¾” stubby recessed contact with an 18” whip, the equivalent of the Interlogix 1078CW-M, while the Bosch ISN-CTC75-W is a ¾” stubby recessed contact with screw terminals, the equivalent of the Interlogix 1078CT-N. Both have a 1.5” gap. Both work well on steel doors in standard or tight fitting applications.
