However, in this image we see that there's a security guard somewhere watching this flag all day, every day!
When it comes to security camera placement, many considerations come into play. Building owners and managers think about pedestrian or shopper walking patterns, entrances and exits visitors and employees use, high-value asset locations, high risk targets, and on and on. The list of considerations varies from one project to another. That's what keeps security interesting for those int he business of keeping us safe!
Far too often what's not taken into account is temporary promotional or banner displays. This is a common concern in the retail industry. It's important to marketing and sales to keep displays fresh to attract attention to different promotions and displays.
But it's not just limited to retail. Consider banners on light poles, tents in public spaces, temporary seating structures, and more. If it's portable or temporary, it may well be blocking an important camera.
Please do your security team a favor and pick places to display messaging, even those as important and cherished as the US Flag, where security cameras aren't blocked.
