The question rarely comes up about what happens to a video surveillance system when a server fails.

Why would such an important question go unasked? Because most VMS's require that servers are up and running or there will be critical failure of one or more parts of the system.

Let's take a look at a critical facility as an example of a potential solution to the "hardware failure" situation.

Question:

“I am an Operations Manager at a large airport. Continuous operation is the utmost priority. Even short down-times lead to high security risks  and clearing of the terminal . This results in flight delays and claims which cost  a fortune”

Solution:

With Bosch VMS, operators can still view video (live and playback) and recording continues even when all servers (management and/or recording) fail.

The Technology:

1) The Operator Client is running independently from the Management Server and streams directly from the cameras and storage to the operator's workstation.

2) The cameras have recording intelligence ensuring recording continuous even when the  Bosch Video Recording Manager server fails by leveraging iSCSI technology in the camera and on the recording appliance.
