What is SDN (software defined networking)? What will it mean for your IP video system?

Brocade_Federal_ForumWe had the pleasure of attending Federal Forum 2014 yesterday in Washington DC. Left there wondering how this is going to impact the security industry as far as IP video stream management, multicast, unicast, etc. Not being IT professionals and hearing what we heard yesterday really makes us thankful that our team is aligning itself with IT manufacturers who can work together to plan ahead for these challenges. Our clients are going to see

these challenges and we'll be here with our partners to help them navigate the new IT infrastructures ahead.

The forum part of the event was focused on IT networking topology changes facing CIOs such as software defined networking (SDN) and the adoption of open architecture. Interesting to see that CIO's are looking at open architecture just as security professionals are hoping ONVIF can keep up with the IP video surveillance demands.

At the exhibit area were companies ranging from storage to network infrastructure to IT funding. Was fortunate to run into our friends from Brocade and NetApp there to continue our education and expand our network of smart IT friends.

So, want to know more about SDN? Check out this short video!

More on SDN here.

More on how NetApp and Bosch are revolutionizing IP video storage solutions.
